Whats up with Vortec heads ???

    vortecs are pretty much hogged out from the factory,They arent ported, but the runners couldnt get much bigger without mods to other parts. They flow better than the great "bowtie" and "fuelie" heads of the musclecar era. And you can get used ones for 300 bucks a pair. The downside is the different manifold bolt pattern, just 8 bolts instead of 12, and their straight up and down instead of at a 72 degree angle like the tbi heads. They are sweet. They come with 1.94 and 1.50 valves but these are plenty big to handle the flow. maybe a set of undercut valves may help flow a bit. but you shouldnt need to unless your gonna run 550 + horsepower. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
