Wheel\'in with Rene in tRusty, Canadian Style (More PIC\'s Added)

Last Thursday, I flew up to Kelowna, B.C., for a short vacation to visit some friends. On Saturday, I got up at 5am, and drove a rental car 3 hours to meet up with Rene for a day of wheelin in tRusty. We met at the Bridal Veil Falls exit off Hwy 1, and after breakfast, we headed out to a meeting spot to join up with members of Rene's wheel'in club and some invited newbies. The trails we went on were mostly forest service and abandoned logging type trails. The weather was perfect, the scenery was spectacular, tRusty performed flawlessly, and we had a really fun day including alot of BS'ing. When the wheel'in day was over, we stopped for burgers and beer, and then headed our opposite directions a little after 9pm. On Sunday, my friends in Kelowna dragged me, kicking and screaming, to the airport and I reluctantly got on the plane to go home. Canada was awesome and I didn't want to leave.

I took some photos of the wheel'in adventure, and thought I'd share them with all of you. Enjoy.

Rene was talking about it in the chat room the other night. It sounds like you guys had a blast, and to think you got to get behind wheel of trusty.

Sweet pics Mark! Even the pics that didn't have trucks were nice [IMG]. I'm jealous! I really hope that once I get all the little quirks out of my truck that I can make a couple road trips to go wheel'n and met some ck5'ers. Looks like a lot of fun.

We did have a blast, and yes, Rene let me drive tRusty. That was very cool! tRusty is quite a beast...it's hard to describe, but when you are on the trails, Rene's rig gives you a feeling like it is indestructable. I loved driving it cuz with the 4-speed, I was getting flashbacks of the black '74 I once owned (and never should have sold).

Re: Wheel\'in with Rene in tRusty, Canadian Style

What a great day! Mark and I had a lot of fun a few different trails, saw some minor carnage and ate a lot of dust.

Mark is trying to be somewhat kind by leaving out one detail and one picture...when we turned around at Sunrise lake to come back down I got stupid going over some rock outcropping, picked a really stupid line, slipped sideways and planted the 14 bolt into a depresion in the rock. in less than one minute of wheeling on the way down I managed to get myself stuck on almost level ground...[IMG] I'm pretty sure Mark has a pick of how the diff was wedged into the rock. (Hint hint)
Thats how Mark ended up driving...I had to jack it up out of the hole and stuff some small rocks under one tire, so I asked Mark to take the drivers seat while I jacked and then drive it out...Oh yeah, the small rocks were moved as soon as I was free.

The red Grand Cherokee that was with us mangled one rocker panel on the 'V' rock going up and somewhere on the trail a big old branch ripped my marker light off. [IMG]
