I installed a 1996 Vortec crate motor with the Edelbrock MPFI. I ordered the 12530283 motor rather than the 12530282. The 83 is the heavy duty motor. I need to know if the cam and compression is the same. I've been fighting with edelbrock for 6 months now. The truck is running rich and the Intergrator and BLM #'s are always below 128, usally hanging around 118-121. I have the tell tale signs also sooty exhaust tips, poor MPG and carboned up plugs. I have a engine data scanner (Turbolink) and all my other readings are fine.
I have been searching the web for the spec with no luck. '
    Can anyone help........

A GM parts shop can't provide the info you need on the two blocks? Just a thought... don't mean to be a wise @ss! [IMG]

Don't know much about MPFI, but I've been troubleshooting a rich condition in my TBI Camaro for a while now. I've tried just about everything, and it looks like I'm going to have to get, yet another, EEprom burned to resolve it.

Like you, the BLM count only goes to 128 at wide open throttle, and hovers around 117-122 during normal driving.

    Good luck,

    Thomas.

It's a program called WinALDL, written by a member of Home Page

The program is free for download, and I built the interface cable from $9 worth of Radio Shack parts; but it is specific for TBI units. It has been invaluable in tuning my Camaro!!

    Stoopalini,

Thanks.. But the site is down or a bad link. The MPFI uses the stock ECM and wiring from the TBI Harness. Edelbrock is sending me a new chip with the fuel mapping turned down a bit. We will see if it works... Doubtfull....

    eds77k5,

Not quite what I was looking for, but Thanks....

I really need to know the difference between the two. Cam, compression. I did find that the HP and Torque ratings were different. I find it hard to believe this is turning out so difficult.

    Thanks for your help..

Hmmm, the link is working for me? Here is the actual address if you want to check it out:
    <a target="_blank" href=http://w1.601.telia.com/~u60113744/software/winaldl/winaldl.htm>http://w1.601.telia.com/~u60113744/software/winaldl/winaldl.htm</a>

I understand on the custom EEprom thing. This will be my 3rd EEprom on my Camaro to get the fuel curve correct. At least the corrections to the original config are much cheaper than the original burn.

Good luck, hope you get it worked out .....

    Thomas
