I'm about to switch over to some bigger tires and with that comes different rims. I'm looking at getting some 16.5 x 9.75 8 lug steel wheels. I have a guy that will sell me a set that came off his truck for about 65 bucks for all four. I'm thinking of getting those, sandblasting them and painting/powdercoating them. What I want to know is where you guys that have black wheels got them and at what price. Also how have they held up? I want to determine if it's worth the hassle of doing the used ones or getting new ones. Any info or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I got my 16 x 10's from 4wheel parts for 50 bucks a piece. They seem to be holding up really well. I've also had several sets of used steel wheels powdercoated. If you're going to get the used ones, 65 bucks is a steal if they are in decent shape (no dents), powdercoating is the way to go. It lasts a lot longer than paint. Plus, the sandblasting cleans em up real good. Just my .02.

HAve you heard of anyone POR-15ing thier rims before? I read on the site that it won't hold up to sun very well. I guess I'd have to top coat it with a clear cote that they sell. I'm thinking of going this route now. Just gotta see if anyone has done it. And how it came out.

I bought my white wagon wheels new for about $35 a piece. I used a rag to clean them up and then sprayed painted them black. Here's a picture of the wheels

my wheels are just like the ones on that green k5. i got mine from 4wpw for $60 a piece but they're 16.5x8.25. that's why they were so much i wanted 16s but 4wpw don't have swampers in a 36x12.50-16.

people that get good mileage aren't having any fun!
