I need to find the connector for the tan/black single wire that you disconnect when setting the timing. I cant find it. I cant even find the tan wire with black stripe I have an error #42 and I need to find this wire. Thanks.

I have an '87 and I think they are the same - look on the driver's side firewall area, there should be a wire with a connector, about, oh, maybe 2 inches long. It is kind of below the brake master cylinder on mine, just off the firewall. Good luck, hope this helps.

I think that is right, I have worked on an '88 and that's what I remember. The emissions sticker under the hood will tell you where to look for the connector.

If I remember right, it's a brown wire with a black stripe. It's pretty much the only wire that is not bundled into the harness. There's a weatherpack connector that you unplug to set the timing.
