Where is the reverse switch mounted. Inside steering column, under dash?

I've got no back up lights. I looked at the tranny and it looks like everything is hooked up correctly, so my next step would be to look for the switch inside the vehicle. So where did they hide it?

Now its been a while since i spliced in the aux back up lights, but if i remember correctly, the back up switch is on top of the column, right above the brake pedal, i think mine has big purple wires on it, i think thats also to neutral switch, thats if i remember correctly, which is difficult after yesterdays festivities.

It's in the same switch housing as the neutral switch mountee on top of the steering column. The wires should be light green and dark green or dark blue. The switch should be closed when you're in reverse. Now, fill out your profile so we can better serve you......kinda like K-mart huh?[IMG]

You guys are correct, I have a 1986 K5 mine is also located on top of steering column just above break pedal. I did'nt have back up break lights either. I found that mine is adjustable, I grabbed it with my thumb and forefiner and moved it until my back up lights came on. Of course you have to have ignition on (vehicle not running) and gear selector in reverse for lights to come on to check............Eric TPI86
