Where would you guys recommend getting some good skidplates for my 85 Jimmy? I am most concerned with the fuel cell and the xfer case cross member area.

I think that the ones that came with the truck are just fine. If you want more beef then hit up your local custom shop and show them your OEM pieces. They shold be able to make some new BEEFIER ones to help you out. Also contact a guy here, metalhead, he might be able to help you out. He is a metal fab. guy and knows the K5s in and out.

My truck came with nice gears (3.73s) and a trailering pkg (oil and tranny cooler), but no skid plates. Hence, I don't have any rigth now.

I have thought about it sometime, but remember, they're going to hold mud up there, and I guess you really only need to be worried about tranny pan, transfer case, and fuel tank because yours is out back. I was always worried about my 7 quart oil pan until I remembered that the axle is in the way of anything hitting it!! Gotta love that big live axle up front to protect stuff.

I think the stock ones would do fine. I was a teetering on my t-case skid plate a couple of times last weekend and it held up fine.

I need something that extends forward enough to protect the exhaust where it crosses under the front transfercase/DL
Stupid f'ing design for stupid f'ing smog laws.

The best way to get what you want is to do it your self if possible.

Yep me too and I don't miss it a bit. If I did I'd go visit it. It's sitting next to my garage rusting on the ground.

I need to find a place to register the Blazer where there are NO smog inspections. Anyone in the remote regions of Ca need a room-mate? LOL (I actually have a place but want to check all the logistics before I start hacking, then can you say 502?)
