Where to get the \"L\" bracket from 205 to frame?

I have yet again broken my transfer case adapter. Thats three times in 6 months. I would like to put on that "L" bracket that goes from the 205 to the frame. What years could you get those on second gens and where? I havnt called the dealer yet. Thanks.

Not sure how long they used them, but a '73 K20 I just parted out had one.

    Where does it mount exactly?
If it's just a simple L, you could weld one together out of 1/4" steel and have it really strong.

Are you talking about the two large holes on the passenger side of the 205. If so i belive its a rod that mounts from there to the engine, and not to the frame. my burb had one on its 208 , and i really should see if it fits my 205. I just never put it back on after the swap.

The 205 used the L bracket in earlier years - way more effective than the strut rod.

Ford and Dodge used similar brackets on 205's if a GM one can't be sourced.

Those brackets were used on the "first design" years, up to '76. But it seems the majority of the trucks that used them were the 1st Gen. and '73. I've seen them on the trucks up to '76, so that tells me they are the "first design" stuff. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Those brakets were on the 205's sometimes, but were essential on the 203's.
The 203 is so heavy and offset weight they had to put it, with the 205 it was optionnal.
The strut on the 208 doesn't work with the 205, you need to support the 205 and 203 vertically, unlike the aluminum casing of the 208 that could use some help front to back.
You could make one it's simple enough, and you don't have to have the same bushings, I made one for my Van conversion when I put a 203 in it.
The only thing you want is to make sure it's not solid, but with some kind of bushings.

Energy Suspension makes some bushings for these types of brackets to the t-case. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

No, I never promised to post a pic of the "L" bracket. I think it was something else but it definitely was not the "L" bracket. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Help me figure out what I was supposed to show a pic of...

Damn, that was so long ago, forgot it! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

    I don't have that 400/203 combo anymore.

Still have the rest of the stuff.

Still want me to take a pic of this stuff? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Pics would be good, especially TH400/NP205. My K30 didn't have any braces at all on it and I thought I might make something, that's the only reason I wanted to see them... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

The rod was there I believe to help cracking of the automatic tranny itself. The problem that I am having is I keep beaking them at the bottom of the "foot" allowing the whole thing to slide around but still hold together. I put a few ratchet straps on it and kept going a few more hours. I think the "L" bracket will help to take some of the strain off of it.

LOL! Somehow I know I would loose if beer were in the balance!

BTW, Isn't it illegal to send alcohol across state lines, especially in the mail?
