wheres the vin plate on a 78 k15...dont see it on the dash

    just curious. is it on the door post? cause my 79 k15 is on the dash and im doing some cab swapperooing. and i need to do some VIN swapperooning too /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif.lol

    Can't confirm the dash location on the '79.'85 is on the dash.....I would think(I try not to,though /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif) that '81 would be the first year that GM started the VIN on the dash(newer body style).Someone confirm this??

    my 76 is only on the door post. my 74 had both but i forgot to save the one on the dash.

    Not trying to be a worry wort, but cars in the late 70's and 80's (at least) used special rose head rivets that weren't commonly available. If you ever had a thorough inspection, they'd notice if yours doesnt have them. Just something to think about.

    they will confiscate teh vehicle if it doesnt have those special rivets...

    the dash pad covers the outside of the vin plate on the dash. the inspector would have to pull up the pad

    There is a guy now that replicates those rivets, not cheap but a couple hundred bucks I think.
    I saw that somewhere on this forum.
