I have an 89 K5 with 36" swampers and a 10 bolt and Im getting new gears. Its a daily driver, so I was wondering which ratio to go with. It also has the overdrive 700R4. Im running a very sluggish stock 3.42. /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif Anyone have any suggestions??

    I would suggest a 4.56 or 4.88.

1st. use the search button. this is covered on an almost daily basis. I would tell you to run 4.56's with you 10 bolts. I wouldn't go any lower because pinion size becomes an issue if you want to offroad it hard. Plus the rear 10 bolt won't hold 36" swampers to long if you off road hard. You might look at swapping in a 12 bolt and have the gears put in that. It will handle the 36's better.

3/4 or 1 ton if you want to get nuts.

Thanks guys, I really am torn between the 4.56s and 4.88s!! I dont need too much power considering its a daily driver. But, I want the right power back into it.
