i have an 87 k5 and im going to be doing a ground up restoration this winter and was wondering what motor you guys would go with, heres the plans, 6" suspension lift, gm 14 bolt ff, dana 60, 37" swampers 4.56 gears, 700r, but i am going to buy a crate motor and not sure which one would be best for my truck.

H.O. 454 or 502. Good deals for what they include/are assembled with (steel cranks, forged pistons, roller cams, etc).

If I could find this http://www.sdpc2000.com/cart.asp?action=prod_detail&catid=734&pid=1163 as a Shortblock or crate motor, I'd point it out to you.

Might be pricey, but damn! 110lbs?? It's not the ultimate in size, but its darn light, (throw some AL heads on it too!) and is a good compromise on size, power and economy.

I'd love to see someone take one of these and fuel inject it.

Nah, I have one in my 69 Camaro, and it just isn't what I thought it would be. /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif Actually, my ex wife's uncle HAD a 69 Camaro ZL-1. Bad a$$ does not even begin to cover it.
