Hey guys I run mostly muskeg and deep mud. I'm trying to decide what winch to run. I'm going to run either a Warn 9500 or the Warn M12000. I know the 12000 will be slower, but better to be slow than not move at all /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif. My truck weighs 5500-6000. Is the 12000 painfully slow or what do you think. Thanks for any input.
By the way if I have to use a snatch block with the 9500 its going to be slower than the 12000 anyway.

was in gratteris the other day and saw a Warn 15000, pretty beefy, But i bet the cable lengths on the 12000 and the 15000 are shorter then the 9500.... so that would be one plus for the 9500..... have you thought about getting the warn 8274 Upright winch, i have heard these are the best winch that warn makes.....

when winching slow is usually better anyways. since you get in deep mud i would get the 12000. just so you have the extra power incase you need it

go with the 12,000 you wont be sorry, its better to have too much than to little. mine has never failed me yet no matter how bad i was stuck. its not that much slower than the 9500 besides how can you complain about having 24,000 lbs of pulling force with a snatch block./forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

get the biggest winch you can and mount it out back,
then get the biggest deepcycle battery that you can and dedicate it to the winch with high quality cables including a ground cable to the DC battery
carry tons of straps and a few snatch blocks

12,000 lb hands down. I saw 2 in action last night and now I am sold on them. i was thinking 8274, but now I think 12000 is for me. I might even think about 15000 if money allowed.
