I unchecked "Messenger" so that it was disabled and haven't had a pop up since. I run Win2000.

If you installed a file sharing program like kazaa or imesh, you're pretty much screwed. Certain programs can help, but until you reinstall windows it won't be fixed fully. Right click the taskbar in windows xp, choose task manager, then choose processes. If you see programs like GMT, new.net domains, commonname, GAIN, then there is your problem. I can elaborate if you want, but basically you should reinstall windows. Adaware will most likely just mess up some system fies or .dlls you need because gator has some win32 files that adaware tries to delete, etc.

Try Popup Cop...works pretty Durn well.

If you want Kazaa without all the ads...try Kazaalite from kazaalite.com. You may still get the spyware from the things you download, but Kazaa won't have them.
