Anyway, if ANYONE has one of these, could ya send me pics of it? or tell me what you think of it? Does it obstruct getting in the rig? getting in the back? any info appreciated, thanks much!

I have a few pics up on my Webshots page. These are crappy pics and really dont show the cage very well.

I will update with better pics this weekend. Check with BigTex, he gave me some good pics of his rig before I installed mine. I am going to talk to S&W to ask if they would give us a discount.

You know, I was prepared to buy a S&W a while back. But when I looked at the cost of the cage plus shipping, I figured that pays for over half of a bender. Forget that, I'll get a bender and do my own, plus I'll have the bender for other cool stuff. Even with $40 off, I'll come out ahead. Also, the site says it's only on 8 point cages, and what you probably want is a 10. Maybe it applies there too?

well, i have no room for my own bender and poop, so it looked like a good deal to me. If I go to a fab shop and have them do all tht custom bending/fitting/welding it'll cost be WAY more than it would at S&W. I think maybe I will get one... I want that $40 off on the 10 pt version of the cage tho! ;)

I also am interested in the cage and am wondering how hard it is to get into the back seat with the 10 point installed, THX Mike

just by looking at the pics...it seems like a PITA to get in the back... hell, getting in the front doesnt look EASY...there is a diagonal support running in the way. I was thinking of getting one and having a local fab guy modify it a bit to suit my needs. Maybe make bars that are in the way bolt-on so I could only use them when wheelin'. Add some gusseting and it'd be strong enough. The pics make the cage look kinds tall tho...wonder if it interferes with putting the hard top back on at all...

the cost of the cage is 199, shipping to AZ is 120
i am in the same spot. might as well buy a bender. i have access to a welder and will be buying my own anyway. so i can com out ahead on prices. plus i can make the cage JUST how I want.

gee, wish I could weld...and actually had room for all that poop. =/ my down-town studio appartment isnt exactly condusive to that kinda activity tho. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif At any rate, for those of us that CANT weld and dont have any room, the 8 pt for $110 isnt that bad. Shipping is like $70 out to where I am. Compared to having a local guy custom build the whole thing (ie $500+) its not bad.

Yeah, the rear seat would be almost a know use type of thing with the cage, sure would like to have one, but I usually take the wife and kids with me when I go and I need the rear seat, I have the factory single bar in the back by the tail gate but that's just not cuttin it, perhaps some custom removable piece's ,as you suggested is the only option.

yeah, just looking at the 10-pt cage.... if you wanted to use the rear seat, you'd have to make the diagonal door bar and the one that goes diagonally right behind the passanger seat both removable. Prolly wouldnt be all that hard for a fab guy to do. If they will gimme the $40 off on the 10-pt cage... Im there,

The Cage does not affect anything with the rear seat. I will say one thing. I junked the door bars and diagonal bars that connect the main hoop to the tranny tunnel. I added some small diameter tubing for gussets. I will take pics today and post them.
