/forums/images/graemlins/burb.gif <--- cool! and by cool i mean totally sweet!

i've always liked subs and how big they are. they are sweet when lifted and hold tons of stuff. i'm totally getting one when i find a 3/4 ton with a diesel and 4x4. i haven't seen one yet.

how hard are the seats in the back to get out?
    how stong are the frames?
did the 3/4 tons ever come with a 44 front and 14b ff rear? (i know the 3/4's had 14's but i'm not sure about the 44.)
    when did they 205's?
when did they first come with diesels?
did they ever come sm465's stock? i thought they were all automatics??

ok, so i'm rambling bad now, but i love these things, i'll paint in flat black, it'll look so cool

what i want to build, 3/4 with diesel, (prefer manaul tranny), 6 inch and 35 swampers. detroit or lincoln rear. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

what subs do you guys have?

Frames are as strong as a Blazer or PU's, I guess the 3/4 ton might be stronger though. You could probably get a D44 in the front, but a 10 bolt is just as good. I know I've seen one with an SM465 but I'm sure they are really rare

    /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

    1) I'v never had to deal with the 3rd seat.

    2) same strength as all other 1/2 and 3/4 ton frames

    3) 44's were used in the fronts up til 78-81(gm used whatever was on the sheft

    4) An expert will chime in on the 205, I know my 78 had one

    5) an expert will chime in on the diesel info too

    6) yes they came with 465's stock. My 78 had one.

" What sub do I have"
    I had a 78 that I stripped for parts for the Willy's I'm building
    it was a 305-465-with 10 bolt and 14 full floater(3/4 ton).
    My dad has a 90 with a TBi 350-th400-208 10 and 14semi floater(3/4 ton)
And hopefully by the end of the week I'll have a 1986 3/4 ton with a 350-th400-208 10 and 14 semi floater.

It is 10bolt/14sf (4.10's) with 6.5/700/208

    I have an '81 Suburban. Originally it had a 350/TH400/208/10 bolt/14 bolt SF. I swapped in a 454/SM465/205/Dana 44 and 14 bolt FF.

I also had a '73 parts Suburban that had the SM465/205 and 14 bolt/Dana 44 from the factory.

    My friend's '88 Suburban came factory with an SM465 with a 208.

/forums/images/graemlins/burb.gif s rock............I sold my 79 K5 to get the size improvement (?) of a Burb - now have a '91 3/4 ton Silverado with the 4L80E tranny, 14BSF rear with Gov Lok, 350TBI motor, currently as stock mechanically as it can get, but a 6" lift and 35" tires are in the garage to install in the next couple of weeks.

Third seat, on mine, takes 10 seconds to remove.

Front axle is a 10 bolt, similar/same as a D44, I hear the later ones (like my 91) are stronger for some reason.

Diesels are good, get pretty decent mileage but are doggy if you like to accelerate.

Not sure what years had SM465's, but they did come with them.

Love mine, can't wait till the lift is done.............

Have a '91 3/4 ton as well. Used to have a '79 K10 with 350/SM465/NP205/corp 10bolt front. Converted it too 1 ton axles.
SM465 was available until '91, seen one on ebay.
    1980 last year for NP205.
Later model 3rd seats pop right out, my '79 was bolted to the floor.
The FF rear was available in the 4x4 until the SF came out in the early '80s. After that only the 2wd bigblocks came with it.

    Forgot, had a '83 K10 with 6.2/700/208 and 3.42 gears that got 21mpg with 200K on it.

I don't know if you got all the answers, but I didn't see anyone mention the diesel.
They started in 82 as with all the GM truck lineup

I love my Burban. I suffer from compusive Burban disease. If I had money it would be a lot better, but that isnt gonna happen anytime soon. Its a 90' 1/2 that I am converting slowly but surely to a 3/4 ton. I got the 14FF in, and a D44 waiting for its home up front. This summer my realistic plans are an SM465 hopefully mated with a 205. Then after that rebuild the 350 with a 400 crank and some nice heads. Has anybody gone to Texas? I went on a road trip after graduating to Fort Worth in the Burban. I saw 1 Burban out of 8 cars just driving down the road, I was in Heaven. The funny thing is they are all stock but in great condition. I was surprised that I had the only lifted truck cruising around, but the trucks were all Chevy pimped put with every truck accessory besides a lift and oversized tires. Why is that? I don't know. /forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif /forums/images/graemlins/burb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif

My 87 burb is sitting on 38.5s with 4" lift, and a built 350, 700r4, 208, locked 10 bolt front with 4.56s, 12 bolt rear with 4.56s. I put hardened axles in it. Fun desert truck, and great for towing. To big for rocks though.
