Oh yeah, and remember when the TV stations went off the air at midnight, and showed the American flag and played the National Anthem before signing off.

Imagine....7 channels and NO TV after midnight. :eek1:

I was in Phoenix then, remember the farm report on Sat. AM, it was the only thing on. I remember the only R&R station was KRIZ, ch. 123, crystal radio. Good Thread topic for a lazy Bird Day. justhorsinaround, I'll send a PM later, reminising @ Phoenix.:cool1:

Yeah we had that but with the British anthem and a pic of the Queen. Then you'd get a black screen with a white dot and that hipnotic whistle! :D
And programs didn't even start 'till mid-morning!!

I can remember gas being 40 cents a gallon when I was a kid.

Having a 30 foot antenna tower next to the house so we could pull in 4 or 5 channels.

Bikes only had one speed, unless your parents had a bit of money and then you had one of the few '10 speeds' on the block. The banana seat was cooler anyways...:haha:

Used to listen to a ton of AM radio too, of course the car only had an AM radio.

Rotary phones...I recall hating to call home because our phone number had five '9's in it so it'd take forever to dial it.
