I used to. But then, I hit myself, in the face. I tore out the articles I liked or wanted to reference in the future, and tossed the rest.
Only time I like old magazines is when I find a stack of popular mechanics from the 50's in a cabin in the woods. Better than finding porn! (Ok, that's not really true, but it sounds nice)

I used to, but now I just collect 'em each month and take them to a local dentists office or something. I keep pertinent articles from the car and truck mags, but I don't save the news & political ones.

    I used too....

We always saved old magazines, but I've hauled many years worth of National Geographic,Popular Science,Popular Mechanics, and Mechanix Illustrated to the Library or any other place that would take them..had TONS of them stashed under beds,in closets,in the garage,in milk crates.. many got torn and ruined from getting damp,etc..

I kept some 4x4 and off roading magazines, and some Hot Rod magazines, and I did keep all my Country Weekly magazines since I started getting them in the 90's..I toss or give away any others..they don't even BURN good in the wood stove, useless for heat, and they make a ton of ash...

I'm going to have a HUGE pile of magazines to get rid of after my mom passes away(or sooner,if she'd only agree to let me get them out of here!)...she gets 22 different magazines every month, and there is about 2500 of them in a heap in her bedroom..why do elderly people suddenly turn into Pak Rats when they get over 70?... .. and why do MY magazines have to be neatly stored, or stacked on shelves...but HERS can lie in a pile, creating a hazard, but thats ok??..:dunno:

I used to BUY older Popular Mechanix magazines from a flea market here...its cool reading about stuff that came along about the same time I did.(1950's)...they had some neat stuff you could build yourself then in them, and the classified ads for all that war surplus stuff were amazing..you could buy a ton of good stuff cheap, like generators, welders, air compressors,etc..nothing like today, when its either store bought or nothing..and it was good stuff, military quality! --not china crap like Harbour Freight..

..yeah,I probably got a bigger kick out of those old Popular Mechanix magazines than many porn ones!..you've seen one naked woman, you've seen them all more or less..but how to "build your own tractor" or other project interested me more for some reason..pictures are OK,but seeing "live" women, thats when THEY get WAY more interesting!..:wink1:

i just tear out the articles/tech/features i want and throw the rest away. put them in a binder classified by features/engine/drivetrain/wheels & tires/electrical/misc.

dunno if that makes me a little geeky or not, but it sure cuts down on the clutter around the house. need to do it again with another binder, as the mags are crowding up the house again.

This is about a third of them; I'm starting to put them all out on shelves. I've got them in binders for each year dating back to 1988 (when I was in middle school). Car Craft, Hot Rod, Popular Hot Rodding, High Performance Pontiac, American Iron and a bunch of misc mags. The wife hates it.

That's a nice collection there aramp1. Mine usually make it 4-6 months before being tossed. I cringe every time.

I got stacks of skate mags, Motor Trend mags, and various off-road oriented magazines. I'm running out of places to stack them. Got lots of older ones in shoe boxes in the basement. Makes me feel like a pack rat.

That was the wife's argument of why I should get rid of them. "You can't read them if they're in boxes, you should just get rid of them".

And now, they aren't in boxes anymore. :D

yeah... i've got a few

2 stacks 2 feet tall right next to me, and a 5' tall 3' wide cabinet dedicated just to magazine storage.

need to get a good scanner, and scan all the good articles and get rid of them.

thats what I do. sick of having to go through a ton of issues fo find an article so I started tearing out what I wanted to keep. I bought a file box just for my mag articled. not to mention not have tons of mags to store anymore.
