I'm looking at 3 K5's in Texas right now, around San Antonio. Bidding ends on them 7/9.

I wish I could convince my company to send me down to our headquarters in SA next week... :)

There are also a couple 2.5 tons going cheap (so far) that I'd LOVE to pickup. If I got one of those I'd be beside myself with glee in my new toy...

    Check this puppy out:

I watch them, and have bought a trailer from them, but you have to be careful. It is "as is/where is" and the descriptions are not always great.

I still watch them but don't buy much anymore as 4 Wheel & Off Road mag screwed it all up when they did an article about the Gov Liquidation site. Seems like EVERYONE is lined up to bid OUTRAGEOUS prices on them now. :angry1: Screw 4WOR! :angry1:

I know what you mean, I had found out about em, about a week before I saw that article, saw 2 trucks in good condition go for $800, unfortunately I had like 5 bucks to my name at that time, now they go $2k for rusted out hulks.

I had no idea there was an article on them... I think I've been browsing them since the GSA started auctioning stuff. I think I got the info from my father in law many years ago when I was trying to get him to find me an "in" to get a military humvee...

Well anyway, anyone see the current South Carolina vehicles??

I'm practically itching in my seat to bid on a pickup (there's a whole bunch that look great, I personally like the 90's Dakota's), I just don't want to without seeing it, and I don't know how the heck I'd get it back up here. Not to mention I'm broke at the moment...

I've been watching for a CUCV M1008. I want a 1 and 1/4 ton Chevy pick up for (a) wheeling, or (b) parts for the next K5 I build. :wink1:

Werd.... You'll see M1008's and 9's without axles and engines going for $1500+. Stripped trucks going for thousands of dollars. It used to be you could get on there and pick up a good, running, mildly used vehicle for $1000-$1500 - now they go for $4000+. Recently there was a 4x4 reg cab dually, '86 Chevy I think. It was complete. I'd have paid $2500 for it if it stayed that reasonable. I believe it sold for nearly $6000. When you're dealing with gov't auctions, that's just ridiculous.

Pm me the auction # or link and I might could got look at them if they're at Ft. Jackson or Sumter. Charleston would be a little out of my way.

    Amen.

Yesterday, there was an auction ending on an '88 reg cab Chevy 2wd. It was residue, and not much left where it was supposed to be. I wanted to body. I figured it'd go for about $400, which is what I was willing to pay for it, and then have to do pick it up. :eek1: FAAWKIN" THING went for $1200!! :eek1: WTF?!?!

Sorry, my mistake, they're in Columbia. Any where near you?

Yeah, the prices are jacking up. So far only the Dakotas are in my price range. Bummer...
