Who\'s done rear 14 Bolt FF disc brakes?

Who has done the calipers with parking brake set up? How did you work the cable? Does it really hold the truck or was the stock set up better?

Who has needed a residual valve at the rear brakes?

Anyone have to change their proportioning valve?

Any other odd things you had to do that wasn't expected?

I'm trying to figure out what all I'll need to do / expect when I install my rear discs. Any input is appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Do a search, there were many that did that and some of them have pics, and comments on the perfomance.
Last I saw them discussed was a week ago.
    Good luck.

Search function is highly over rated in my mind ( or whats left of it) I can never get anything of value from it.... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Well, with a slogan like, "I'd rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobotomy!" I'm surprised anything works for you!! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I'm sorry, I just couldn't pass that up!

The search has worked for me from time to time. What sometimes happens is I get 5 different opinions from 30 guys ... so, you're still left in the dark ... with nothing but a bottle in front of you.

Alright, I'll shut up now and try the search.

We just finished putting disc's on a Suburban 14FF. Used misfits brackets, new 3/4 ton rotors, calipers and rubber lines. Thats it, well we also put all new bearings and seals in the hubs. No other changes to the brake system at all. It was a 1/2 ton suburban originally with stock master. Bled the brakes and drove away, great pedal, great stopping.

I have a set of caddy calipers and 45ACP's brackets to put in my K5 soon, so I'll be working on the ebrake issue.

I am in the process of finishing mine up right now. Got the calipers in last week and just ordered my new cables. I should be through with my disk conversion in about two weeks. If you don't have the answers you are looking for by then, send me a PM and I will let you know my opinions of it and what, if any, additional parts were needed to complete it.

Does it seem to stop any better? Do the backs lock up at all?

    Thanks,

    Eric M.

Truck stops better. Feels very good, no lock ups. Unless you try to lock as on loose material.
