That's nuts! My 14 bolt was $150...check out the pirate board and look for the Camo (I think) axle that was made...that's expensive... /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

I agree that Camo on POR has the most outrageous axles ever built.

I do know Avalanche Engineering builds some outrageously priced axles in the $25K range using 2.5 ton third members and portal ends. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

My expensive axles have not been built yet. I'm planning on Moser shafts, CTM joints, 4.88 or 5.13's, Detroits, blah blah blah, and those alone will put them around $4000 for front and rear alone. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

i'll have about 1500 into my high pinion 44,totally rebuilt
power loc,but i get free flat top knuckles and already have
the right steering box,so my crossover steering will cost
half the price, and my driveline angle will be improved,
and i get to use fords dual piston calipers that came with it,
i looked at getting a dana 60, but i cant see paying 1200
for a housing, 800.00 for crossover steering, rebuilding it 1000.00 and those are probably conservative numbers,
i know thats the right way to do it though,

    [/ QUOTE ]

It can be by the time you add up the parts of:

    1. Passenger side steering arm
    2. Machine work to the passenger side arm
    3. Drag link
    4. 2wd steering gear box (if you were to get one from someplace like WTO or AGR)
    5. Tie rod ends for drag link

Add up that stuff and it should be around $800, if not over. /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Heh... your all about this new axle forum. I'll say it again, I think its a good idea too.

Oh yeah... I've put about 50 bucks into my front 44 between some u-joints, lube, and vents. My 14 has been good so far... nothing broken (imagine that /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif) but I'll have to get a locker after I finish the little things that are left that keep me from driving it more often.

Re: Who\'s got the most expensive axle?

I do not have $500cdn in mine
passenger steer arm once bought requires no machining
drag link is couple $ a foot 1.25"-.219" tubing
hardest part is finding LH tap
If you will pay $800usd I will sell you mine right now

Re: Who\'s got the most expensive axle?

Well lets see. I am pretty retarded, and I have no patience. Here is a list (prices do not include shipping)
    <ul type="square">[*]D60 w/ 4.56 gears (w/o hubs, lockouts, rotors) - $850
    hubs, rotors - $120
    Flanges - $50
    U-joints - $80
[*]10b rear broke (in my Tahoe)
    Auburn - $400
    Bearings, races, seals - $200
    Brakes - $35
[*]10b Front (Cheyenne - before D60) - on truck when I bought it
New 4.56 ring and pinion (damaged gears) - $200
Hub internals - Free (good friends)
    [*]14FF w/ 4.56 and detroit - Came with truck
    [/list]
I also plan to weld the d60, and put disk brakes on the 14FF. /forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif

I do all my work myself. Not hard, might want to look into it.

I have to quote myself on this one......

    "Never add up your receipts.......NEVER!" -Greg72 07.31.2003

My receipts are in a 3-ring binder (the large 3" ring size) and is almost maxed out. I have a complete total for what I've spent, but I'm not willing to say the number out loud.

    I'm in denial.....

    ....no I'm not

    ....yes, I suppose I am.
