Who\'s running Air cond. in their early (pre 93) blazers?

WELL, as I live in one of the HOTTEST places in CA (SACTO), I am thinking of getting my Air to work again.

It looks like I will need the aluminum lines that come off the back of the compressor. Anyone got this?

It also looks like I will need a REALLY good vaccum pump. Does anyone know or have one of these that I can rent?

Perhaps a few others want to go in on this and rent the one I buy?
(I have a car I want to do too)

Anyone running R134A and do it themselves?
I believe I will have to have my Dryer replaced, I might also have to have a *something er rather* valve (I forget the name) replaced.

Does anyone know where to get these pieces? - for a good price???

TO re-iterate, I am looking to get my AC to work again.
And I am looking to do it myself.

WHere to get the parts, and vacuum.

    TIA

You can order all the lines and the a/c stuff from www.lmc.com and then hook it all up and then charge it ( I think) I never did it ... But I will be needing some of the lines too but not right now maybe next summer...

    Nick,
If you decide to order them new from LMC I am about to place an order and will give you a discount. I'm in sac, so there shouldn't be much shipping. (just from LMC to here) unless I get a big enough order. Then that would be free too. Once you get all the parts to go Autozone and buy their R134 Conversion kit, it is 34.99. Comes with everything you need to charge the system, and it kicks butt!

    Thanks for the info.

I would do this except that it NEEDs to be evacuated. If it is not evacuated, you run the risk of freezing the water droplets (from atmosphere), and potentially ruining (rusting) the AC system.

I actually tried this two years ago. My lower evaporator FROZE!!! And I did not get much cold air inside the cabin.

Besides that, I did not have any gauges to measure pressures.

Now that I got a Fuel Injection system which will compensate for the idle, and different load, I want to try this again.

    TIA

My boyfriend has the gauges to measure, and actually the kit from Autozone, comes with a gauge, the hose connections and the freon. I'm not sure what you mean by it made it freeze. You can have your system evacuated over here for 9.95. He'll even credit you for the Freon that you drain... if you want to go back and have him fill it. But the new stuff works just as good. B/f just installed a/c in his 4Runner. We live up near Madison and I-80. Let me know if you need anything.

SWEET!!! That is what I need.. After I get the hose.... /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

    Happy days!

I believe the water condensation froze in my evaporator because I did not evacuate it. THe lower part of my evaporator had little frozen icicles on it.

    DAMN, another project! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif
