    UnFRIGGIN'beliveable!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are some people in CA really this retarded? Talk about a waste of taxpayer's money.........:surepal: :surepal:

California filed civil suits Wednesday against three U.S. and three Japanese automakers on Wednesday, accusing them of contributing to global warming.

    CBC News

The suit names General Motors, Ford, the U.S. Chrysler division of DaimlerChrysler, along with the U.S. arms of Toyota, Honda and Nissan. California says the exhaust gases of millions of cars, SUVs and trucks have ended up costing the state millions of dollars.

"Global warming has already injured California, its environment, its economy and the health and well-being of its citizens,” California attorney general Bill Lockyer said in a statement.

Lockyer said the lawsuit, filed in a federal court in Oakland, Calif., is the first-ever attempt to make automakers legally responsible for damages caused by greenhouse gas emissions from their vehicles.

"Vehicle emissions are the single most rapidly growing source of the carbon emissions contributing to global warming, yet the federal government and automakers have refused to act," Lockyer said. "It is time to hold these companies responsible for their contribution to this crisis."

The complaint charges that the automakers have created a "public nuisance" by producing vehicles responsible for 30 per cent of all carbon dioxide emissions in California. It asks for damages for current and future harm.
Lockyer told Reuters he will be asking for "tens or hundreds of millions of dollars" in damages.

Really, WTF are these people trying to accomplish? Can someone please explain why an Attorney General is filing such a ridiculous lawsuit? :surepal: :surepal:

ok...........what does he plan on doing with those "hundreds of millions" of dollars that he's suing for? I mean, who is going to get the benefit of this money? the residents of Cali? or is he going to have this money set aside to research repairing the ozone?

I think he needs a swift kick in the arse myself, especially if he's driving anything other than a bicycle.

Kalifornication to the extreme. The automakers should say "fine, from this day forward, no cars/trucks will be sold in CA... and anyone that transports one there from a different state gets no warranty". This "problem" would go away... instantly.

"This product has been known in the state of California to cause cancer"

Why cant that entire state just break off of the main land and sink into the ocean? Nevada would sure be nice with some ocean front.

    Emission retardation...

I think all the "emission" laws do,is cost us money, waste our time, and do little or nothing to "clean" the air..for every car that gets "sniffed"and fails, another one gets "fudged" and passes the test..

China,Tiwan, and most all of the European countries,Mexico, and Canada are where 90% of the foundry's are located that make our coveted "cheap" brake rotors and other castings--Why??..because they have little or no emission laws, and therefore its much cheaper to make them there (plus the cheap labor!)..

My thought is this..how much difference will it really make,if the USA keeps being the poster child for clean air with all these laws, fines, emission controls on cars, factory smoke stacks, ships, and foundry's ,if the REST OF THE WORLD DOESN'T GIVE A RATS A$$ ??..

It's like being in a big swimming pool--the USA is in one corner, trying to keep the pool clean, while the rest of the world poops, peukes, and pees in it constantly!..eventually,it all drifts towards the USA,and pollutes it ANYWAY!..makes NO sense to me--its just another way to take our money away, and nothing will improve...it has to be a universal, world wide effort,or its all for naught,in my opinion..
