I'm confusing myself here, and web-searches aren't helping either.

How the heck do I legally transport a trailer from AZ, through NM, TX, and OK, to KS?

KS trailers require tags if the gross weight is over 2000 pounds on the trailer. A similar model boat, according to brochure literature, weighs 1750 lbs. So, being that I'm transporting it to KS, and the trailer would be legal without registration in KS, would I be safe to assume I could make the trip with no tag on the trailer?

if the trailer you are towing is leagal in the state you are towing it from, you will be fine
however, you will need to register it whatever when you get back

So now the question is, what type of trailers require tags in AZ.

They are all permanent tags in AZ. What part of AZ are you going to be in?

actually no they aren't, you can purchase a Perm tag, but also can buy the single year as well...

Just regular registration type stuff really.

Wow they didn't give me that option with either of my trailers. Oh well permanent is better for me anyways.

Just have the bill of sale and if you run into a problem show it to the cop. I have never been pulled over for pulling a boat or trailer without a tag BTW.

all trailers here in Arizona MUST have a registration tag/plate, if you don't have it, you will be cited. Money grubbing bastards out here.

I don't remember, does he have the title and reg for this boat and trailer?

Got a title , bill of sale , and past registration for the boat . Title was signed by the p/o to next p/o before Tom .

I told Mitch about that , and he has a person to notarize it for him .

I have no trailer paperwork though . He could perhaps get a trip permit , since you don't neccessarily need your name on it to buy one .

I bought a trip permit for the Chevelle , but its not in my name yet .

You said you did have a tag somewheres for the trailer though, right? If it's a permanent trailer tag, there's nothing to worry about with the trailer. If not.. then I'd have to take a trip to the local dmv or whatever.

If you do take some pictures, I'd like to get an idea of the shape the motor and lower unit are in :)

Did that boat come with a windscreen?

Windshield , and a center door on the windshield . Motor hasn't been run in awhile . Its an inboard 4 cyl Penta-Volvo . Lower unit turns when you turn the wheel .
