On the highway? Our state has toll booths on roads like our interstate. I know in Louisianna, Tshy tells me, they don't have them and she hasn't seen them in Texas. I can't think of any in Jersey or New York, except for the bridge tolls. So can anyone tell me that their state has toll booths as well?

NJ has them on the Turnpike, MD has them on a few highways (I95 being one of them), VA has them on a few highways (example Dulles Airport Tollroad), Kansas has them, the Ohio Turnpike (extension of the PA Turnpike), Colorado has them (E470 around Denver), IL, MI, FL (I95), and a whole lot of others I can't think of right now.

Turnpike is card pay when you get off. Its up to .75$ from here to Philly these days. Come to think of it I remember paying last time I was on the parkway /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif. I always laugh about the fact that it is free to get into Jersey but I have to pay to get out /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I always say its worth it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Jersey's alright, it gets a bad rap.... i used to live in Pennsy for about 4 yrs back in the 80's, Martin's Creek/Bangor. it was cool, built my Power Wagon out in the barn there.. the commute to Flemington killed me tho... moved back to NJ...

Texas has the beltway, which has toll booths. At least $1.00 each one too /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Illinois has a buttload of tolls. I swear it costs more in tolls to get through Illinois than it does in gas.

And the last time I was through there the speed limit wasn't even 70.

Wisconsin has been flirting with toll roads. I think it's dumb. They aren't going to manage their money for roads any better (one of the highest gas taxes and shittiest roads) and the roads aren't going to get any better. Wisconsin roads suck at best.

It always makes me appreciate Michigan potholes. We've got fast moving traffic (70mph speed limit), decent ramps, no tolls, and the roads are relatively smooth. We even have our own public racetrack (I-496).

Michigan does have bridge tolls. The Mackinaw Bridge is now $2.50 to go across. Went up for the first time since it was built almost half a century ago. The funny thing is that it happened not long after the first woman became the bridge manager. Almost as funny how Michigan's first female governor runs the state into the ground... the only person worse than Engler is Granholm... but I digress.

PA roads are pretty bad. If you go down to Delaware then drive back up to PA its funny cause as soon as you crtoss state lines the road goes from nice to crappy old pavement in an instant.

Maine has them too, Maine Turnpike (I-95). Really strange intervals and amounts.

Okay, there were toll roads in Houston when I was there many moons ago...unmanned booths (drop the coins in). There is a freeway they built up in Orange county (cali) a couple yrs ago thats a toll road now too. Like someone said though, Illinois, esp. around chicago has a toll every few miles. (I-94) the tolls continue all the way across Indiana to Ohio.
