I called Rocky Mountain Suspension for a body mount kit for my 84 K5,and I was quoted $91 bones. Anybody get them for cheaper?

Hard rubber hockey pucks are about $0.99 at the sporting goods store, drilling a 1/2" hole is free assuming you have a drill and a bit, and appropriate Grade 5 or Grade 8 bolts will run about $1.50 each with the washer included. Just stack the hockey pucks up to the appropriate height and coat the bolt with anti-seize in case you have to replace the pucks in the future. I have two older Chevys I've done this to.

$54.95 depends on the year this one says 73 to 80, so I'll have to check the one you found.

Okay and are body bushings in 1" incraments? I have heard of people using the pucks for a body LIFT but not as body bushings. I have also heard of them cracking from the force.

Unless your looking for death and or problems I wouldn't ever go the hocky puck route or stack any kind of lift. But it's off subject anyway the post if for body bushings.

Be carefull if you buy poly mounts. Energy Suspension makes you reuse the metal inner sleeves from your original mounts. Don't know about you guys on the west coast but back east those sleeves are gonna be rusted to sh*t and you can't just buy the sleeves from the dealer. Called Energy Suspension about it and they just said to use the originals. Had to make some using stainless pipe cut in half the long way and welded to another piece of pipe to make the oval shape the sleeve has. Just a heads up, ask before you buy.

Urethane is usally charged by the gram so bigger bushings are more expensive. I find it hard to believe Summit can sell the same parts that much cheaper than rocky mtn or us. Some cheaper is always the case with larger suppliers but $30 on a $85 part? Sounds like we're not comparing apples and apples somehow.

You CAN buy "JUST THE SLEEVES" new! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif I got them at the local GM dealer for $15 each. The only thing is they're for a Lumina!!

I don't have the part # here but I'll dig out my bill tonight & post it. The "proper" ones for the Blazer at the delaership have the new rubber molded onto them but there's ones there for a lumina which are the identical steel shell without the rubber. I've got them installed on ym Daystar bushings that I got from ORD & they're a perfect fit! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Re: Why are Body Bushing\'s so damn expensive?.......Part #

Just dug out the receipt for the body mount sleeves.

The part # is 14087857
$9.63 GM List price
$7.22 GM Wholesale Price
$5.78 GM Parts Direct price

Like I said, they're actually for a Lumina I think but they're an exact fit. I'm using them & they fit fine.
