[/ QUOTE ] Back in the day they had a cop show on TV called Hawaii 5.0. I'd never heard the cops called that till shortly after that show came out.

Hawaii was the fifthiest state in the union. That's why they called it that. And because of TV, that's why some peopel call all cops 5-0's.

Yup.Police being called 5 0s Has nothing to do with the Ford 5.0 engine. The 5.0 was phased out in 96 and replaced with the 4.6L. I think Crown Vicks started getting the 4.6 in 91. Before 91 I think the most all police interceptors came with a 351. After 91 5.0 was just in the Mustangs and Trucks. The 5.0 was never really a police engine except in the Mustang persiut cars in the 80s and 90s.

Incorrect. The police interceptor motors were indeed a 302. They were sold directly from ford, with a badge on the valve cove that said "INTERCEPTOR". It was basically the same motor as a 302 HO (high output) motor.

it is not known to me that any of the mid 80's cop cars to have anything but, and especially not a 351 windsor motor. If it was, 351's would be a hell of a lot cheaper to build. Even the cores are hard to find.
