We just bought this house and when you run the hot water in the kitchen or the shower it makes kind of a sqealing noise:confused: Sometimes it will abruptly stop for a moment but then will start again. kind of annoying when you're trying to sleep and someone is using the shower:mad: Any idea's??? Thank's,Mark

has something to do with the rate at which the water flows through the pipes. They call it harmonics or something like that. Just get use to finding the spot that does not make the sound. Don't know how to fix it. On machine where the hydraulics do this we just tweek the orfice or other adjustment on the valves because this is not good for them.

Is it coming for just one shower valve or all over?

You need to locate where is coming from before I could help you.

sounds like it's coming right from the shower head and the kitchen faucet. At least that's what it sounds like to me, changed shower heads and the little thing that screws on to the faucet, no change. Only does it at these 2 locations. sometimes it quits for a moment then starts again.

Sounds like a Toilet ballcock/fill valve or a ice maker. Does it only do it when you use one of the faucets or when they are both off? Take the lid off the toilet and turn the shower or kit. faucet on and watch the toilet tank level.

Wife just told me kitchen only does it when you use the sprayer and shower only does it thru the shower head not the main spout.

Kitchen sounds like the diverter in the valve for the sprayer.
Shower sounds like it might be a water saver in the shower head or the valve just needs a rebuild. Doesn't sound like anything major.

They have found that the coating on the heating elements in water heaters has been braking down and going though your hot water lines (heard thsi from my ol man whos a pumber) . Did the water come out of the sink at odd angles instead of a stream did you find little white pieces in the screen from the sink? They are very small but noticable if you look. Try draining your hot water heater, Youll get alot of nasty stuff out if you havent done it recently. We just did this at our house and cleaned the screens and they havent plugged back up and the pipes have been quiet now for about 2 weeks. Its worth a shot if you dont mind a little work.

It depends on what faucet you have but all most all are replaceable. If it's a delta (kit.), you need to take it apart (after you buy the new diverter) and pull the spout off to get to it. As for the shower, it also depends on what type it is. It might be as simple as a loose washer in the diverter (if it's a tree handle valve). Pics go a long way :) .

It might be worth poping in a couple new catridges. There easy to do if there not stuck in there. It will make them work like new. If they keep singing to you and it starts to sound like a tune you know, better run like hell.
