Why is canada underpopulated compared to the States? We have so much land, but not near as much people as the U.S. how come hardly any people established homes around up here?

I don't know. I have been in Detroit for many years now for the Auto Show, and it is pretty damn cold in the winter there too.

Maybe the Mounted Police scare too many people off?;) I was nervous when the border patrol asked me about 5 times in 3 different ways if I was carrying weapons or alchohol into Canada when I was there in September.

are you sure you want it any different? Back in the '50/'60's we here in oregon had a nice place. Now it's crowded, won't be long and the northen migration will reach you too!!! As for me I'm headed to Idaho to get away from the crowds, someone in Idaho will move to Montana to get away from me and they'll push someone else over the border. Lock your boarders now or soon we'll have a parking lot from LA to Calgary.

I'll try to be a bit more clear, California (I think that it the one) has just as much people as the entire Canada. Thats what I mean by low.
I like it how it is though...

remember Steve, its all based on population centers and how easy it is to get the "conveniences" that everyone wants and earn the money everyone needs to survive...

i've lived in both.. heavily populated suburbia jersey and farm country in PA. i'd love to live in a place like i did in PA.. miss that, 40 acres to play on, no neighbors.. grind, air hammer all day, rippin on my halfpipe with the tunes crankin... :D now i'm back in suburbia with a noise nazi neighbor 20' away... but it also only takes me 15 minutes to get to work as opposed to an hr and 15 when i lived in the sticks..

when i go up to the Canadian border in NY for my fishing trip, i love it.. very rural.. i'd retire there in a sec if it wasn't for the loooong winter thing... but to earn a living up there could be tough.. gotta be in the right field...

The only thing I dislike about Canada is the lack of businesses...more related to 4x4ing and stuff...compared to the U.S. which has a million. But now Kyle (NWF) is making parts, so I will be satisfied:)

I'm glad you clarified it. I thought maybe you meant low in stature (short) or maybe low morals, certainly not low IQ or mental capacity.........

I'm just funning with ya. I love Canada and am jealous of those of you who can live UP there. The wife and I are planning a trip through Banff and Jasper for this summer or next. Keep warm and well try and not send you any more crazies.

PS good luck on the new house

If you plan on going through Banff you'd better let me know. Canmore is about 15 minutes east of Banff. In fact, if you drive from Calgary to Banff you pass right through the center of Canmore.

ok ill throw my two cents in, its because every one is a bunch of winey bitchs.
Every one complanes about the weather being to cold in winter.

but hell in july its to damn hot, there is too much to complane about in canada.

    lol

OK ill tell you the real reason.

we have the french hell who likes the french?

if they dident drive everyone south i dont know what did.

question: why do ducks fly upside down over quebec???

BECAUSE the french arnt worth a sh*t!!!

No one get offended. i am not predudice i hate everybody.

(actualy i am half french, but the trates of the irish half help to kill the brain cells held by the french and we all know how they do in wars!!)

My wife and I did that trip this past September. We had an excellent time and cannot wait to do it again.
