Under a hydroassi system upgrad i managed to take out the rack-piston a litle to far from the steerbox housing and whopps...all the balls rolled out from it`s possition. In the overhaul manule GM writes

" The black balls are ,0005" smaller than the silver balls. The black and silver balls MUST be installed alternatly into the rack-piston and return guide."

So why is that SO important that they are installed alternatly?

If they are do not alternate, you get eratic (sp) steering. Don't know how else to explain it. Its almost like losing pressure from the pwr steering then suddenly getting it back. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Best bet is, go to a GM dealer and get new ones, I don't think they are very much.

    Hope this helps.

Think about how they swing and what they hit... I'd have to say for extra stimulation. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
