Because when you don't have a place to work on the rig and it's 35 degrees outside and raining/snowing in gallons and you've done and fawked up the rig from an impromtu Bajaesque mud run; web wheeling can be done in the warmth and comfort of your own home and there's not much chance of the computer to develop some nasty vibration/stumble while running down the highway..............

Well sort of. I decided to blow out the engine because of the lake here in town, got some water in the cylinders going through it on the way to the post office. Decided I might as well do the yearly shift into 4wd thing.

We have a lot of dirt runs around here and when it rains, the roads ranged from better than pavement to the soggy, soupy crap that has a lot of traction on bottom to the clay that just plain sucks unless you are driving in it for fun.

When I got so far out and started hitting the stuff that I'd do nothing but slip around in, I shifted into 4wd. The one thing here is the front and rear are different ratios right now, so if I have any sort of traction, I have to shift back to 2wd. I ran probably about 5 miles through the muddy roads.

I hopped back on the highway to come back to the house. Started having a vibration which makes me think possible u-joint and 95 other things. Then I had a stumble, which reminded me of the two rearends I've grenaded without the volume/metallic sounds. Then every so often it would miss.

Once I got into town, everything went away. It's possible that I just got more water down into the cylinders since there was a lot of puddles that I had to go through and with an open air cleaner element, that's not good.

All in all, it was fun. I only drive my truck a couple of times a week right now to get the mail and I'm waiting for us to find a house with a garage so I can get started on the build-up.

Funny little story. A few nights ago, I stopped this ole boy for speeding. Walked up, asked him for the normal and on the A-pillar where it meets the roof, he had this small business sized card in the molding and it was a pic of a Latin honey minus clothes. She had some nice hooters. /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif
