Why would you make a rock buggy, but put tires with very low side walls on 20 on it?

Me thinks that Xtreame 4x4 is more about bling than anything else. Does anyone else get this impresion?

Also on the show where they built the motor for this buggy they put royal purple oil in the motor, but if you go to royal purples web site it says that you shouldn't put their oil in a new unbroken in motor cause the rings won't set. That is one statement that I would take seriously.

Keep in mind who thier targeted audence is. The majority of thier viewers don't know chit about off road machines, they're mostly the younger bling bling wack offs. I even noticed on "TRUCKS" that Stacey doesn't upgrade axles or talk gear swaps very often. Mostly it just do a lift and bolt on large tires. I honestly think they should stress the gears and possible axle swaps with those larger tires.

That's the impression I get from hanging out on Pirate. A lot of hobby guys like us that crawl a lot are going to 17's.

Agreed, plus it reduces the unsprung weight.

reduces the unsprung weight of what? ever picked up a 20" wheel? an alum. 20 by 8 or 10 weighs at least 30-40% more than a 15x8 or 15x10 steel wheel.

I liked the Jeep Stacy did on Trucks. My favorite part though was when he hit that hole and pretty much dug his front bumper in it, then later on said "I wouldn't have made it through that mud if it weren't for this front bumper!"

It's like saying stickers add horsepower to rice burners... I just laughed then I was utterly dissapointed in Stacy...

Would you rather watch Queer Eye for the Straight Guy?

Yea, they're bolt on shows, but the hardcore 4x4 crowd is tiny compared to the bolt-on street queen 4x4 crowd, and that's where the money is. It's hard to cater a show to every group and have everyone be perfectly happy. I'm sure half the people who watch these show wouldn't know what Heim joint is if one hit em in the head.

I think both shows are great to watch, even if they don't build comp buggies every week. Hell, they had a comp buggy on Xtreme4x4 a week or two ago. Yea, more fabrication and tube would be awesome, but most people just aren't interested in DIY sliders.

No I would rather watch Will and Grace.......... :haha:

There is just something about Xtream 4x4 that rubs me the wrong way. Doing bolt on stuff is ok if there was variety to it.

I guess I am just jelious that I don't have a ton of money or the lack of common sense to not run up a butt load of debt for something that isn't practical.
