Apparently Google just bought this and it rocks! I've have spent many hours looking at stuff on this site.

First of all you can click and drag the map (like acrobat reader) rather than having to click a point and let it refresh. That's cool enough, but the most fun it you can toggle between a drawn map or a satellite view. I just spent an hour looking at Moab Utah. Found Pritchett canyon, city market, Gold Bar rim, slickrock campground, the Denny's...

It's limits seem to be North America.

Check it out, type your home adress and toggle the satellite view. Most likely you'll be able to see well enough to know if your car or truck was in the driveway when the satellite went over. As far as I can tell most of the sat images are from Summer '03 (at least in my area.)

They should make a topo version. Every topo program is a PITA.

Hmm, I can't zoom in far enough to tell anything. It's all a big jumble of fields. It says they don't have info for this zoom level at anything closer than level 4. On the Terra server I can see our house and barn but it's in black and white and it's about 10 years old.

Yeah, some areas aren't that good yet. Try New York city though...

Wow! That is a nice site!!

I really like the drag feature!! My town is in an area with crappy images, but the local wheelin' spot is highly detailed. The images were taken in the winter so all of th trails are highlighted with white snow. :D

There ya go...I've seen sat pic's that get closer, but they're nowhere near as easy to use as this.

AFAIK this site is still in 'beta' so I'm sure things will change a little once it's been up a little longer.

I was really surprised to see Moab have really good sat images...I figured being as remote as it is that you'd only get the high shots.

I found it to be completly usless. I checked out where I live and the names of the roads were wrong. Then I checked out the area where My Parents live and there were road that do not exist.

my friend, discover the " print screen button, and life will get better, from gov't websites to porn :D

hit printscreen, then open a basic program like paint, and 'paste'

    all good from there
