Will 5-5.5\" of lift clear 35x12.5\" tires with no trimming?

I'm hoping to get some 35x12.5" tires under my K10 without trimming the feners, i'll be installing a 4" lift and may put some 1" zero rates in the front and build some 1" longer shackles to get another 1.5" on top of the 4". And then 1.5" blocks in the rear. Or should I just put a 2" body lift on it and be done? With the body lift I won't have to worry about my driveshafts hopefully and it should clear the 35x12.5" tires on 15x8s with 3.75" backspacing with no trimming. What do you guys think? I know somebody has done it.

    yes it will..

i run 33x12.50 on 15x10s with no lift at all, and the tires dont rub at all, not at full stuff with the wheel cranked even..

in this next one.. look at the spring arch, you can see a little of it in front of the tire..

there ya go.. so you have a 2" taller tire, no wider and 5" more lift.. it WILL FIT! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

    I'm talking about 35's not 33's /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

But anyway, I do have a spare 35x12.5" tire I will be using as a spare and it will probably be mounted on a 15x10 since I have 8 of them around. Maybe I could have it mounted and stick it on and see what happens. I'm actually leaning more toward just the 4" suspension and 2" body right now.

Yeah, and it will probably turn out close to 5.5" even. But i'm a bit worried about my driveshafts after that, i'm thinking the tires will fit and maybe rub a little stuffed and cranked, but its just sheet-metal /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif . Anyway, then if I go to 5.5" of lift what do I need to do with my driveshafts?

What does "well maybe..." mean? /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

Are those 35's in your picture? That doesn't look like even 4" of lift. So I assume your saying it will work?

Yup, those are 35's and that's not even 2" of lift, that's 16 year old stock springs pimping a big 620 or was it a 648 on the RTI ramp, sway bar connected and no rubbing............. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I have had lots of people tell me 35's will fit under 4" of lift with no rubbing. I think their all right especially since they will be 12.5" wide tires on 15x8 wheels with atleast 3.75" backspacing.

I don't think they'll fit with NO rubbing. Mine didn't fit on the 8 or 10 inch wheels I ran them on with a stiff ass 4" setup and the swaybar connected, doubt yours will.

Sawzall is the best mod I've made yet. It gets addicting though, you won't want to stop.

My wheelin bud has a k10 with 6" superlift and 35x12.50s on 15x10s and it only rubs slightly when its articulated to the point of insanity!

I think that's basically it. You've got to flex it pretty far to make them hit with 6". It can be done, it's not impossible, but it's not common that it go that far either.

Disconnecting the swaybar is a good way to allow that.

If you're that worried and you don't want to trim, just lower your bumpstops.

I could rub a 33 with a 4" lift and the swaybar attatched. The 35's were worse, and the 37's with no swaybar sound funny. (rubbing the body is funny to me /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif)

Re: Will 5-5.5\" of lift clear 35x12.5\" tires with no trimming?

There are a lot of factors to consider....the biggest being that every truck, lift kit, and tire/wheel combo is a little different. On my '90 K5 I ran 32x11.50's on 15x10 rims with no lift and no rubbing...on the street, never did any real off-road stuff with that setup.

With 33x12.50's on the 15x10 rims, a 4" lift with the swaybar disconnected, I could get it to slightly rub when seriously twisted on the trail.

35x12.50's with the same rims and lift required moderate trimming.

I now run 38x13 Swampers with the same lift and they fit with no rubbing, but the fenders are obviously trimmed quite a bit.

Adding more lift will only get you so much tire clearance because the wheelwell openings are only so wide. Without fender trimming I would probably still rub the 38's with 10" of lift.....

I have 9" and 38.5x16s and I manged to make them destroy the fenders even with the swaybar connected. That's when I finally started to trim, at which time I went overboard, and now I'm losing my body lift as I think I can make it at 6".

I believe this is the only pre-trimming with the 38s image of my truck that shows anything at all.

I'm thinking about getting a sway bar disconnect kit from ORD so the front will probably flex a good bit. I may be willing to trim some just long as it isn't excessive. If its gonna be a real wheeler I feel that is its fate anyway. Besides new fenders are only about 100 bucks anywa /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I doubt I will need to trim the rear at all, just some minor trimming around the bottom of the fronts, since thats where it seems like it may rub when I have the wheel turned.
