Will 6\" lfit work for 35\'s on a 15x12 rim

After doing some searches it seems like everyone has recommended a 6" lift to run 35's. Most of them though, have been on 8" or 10" wide rims. I plan on going with 15x12 on my K5 as it will be seeing mostly sand and pavement. Do you still think I'll be ok with 6" of lift or should I consider going with 8"? Any inf would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    James

How wide is the tire (12.50"?) and how much backspacing on the wheels you want?

Yeah, the tires will be 12.5. As far as backspacing, I can't remember the exact specifications but I plan on running Weld Typhoons.

    Thanks

I have a 6" lift with 35's (12.50) and it is just fine. I think my rims are 10" though. How agressive of a tread are you looking at. You may have some minor rubbing if you go with something like Swampers.

I was planning on going with some TRXUS A/T Radials but I was also considering TSL Radials. Thanks for the info.

I think a 12.5" tire on a 12" wide rim is just too wide.

I think my 36x12.5 TSL's (that actually measure 13.5" wide) too narrow for my 10" wide wheels.

If you are looking for a sand tire stay away from swampers!
They will just dig to china! I would look into the new TrXus STS by Interco.

May not be much help to you, but I am running 4" lift and 35x12.5 15s on 10x15 wheel. I tried a 10x12 wheel and they didnt rub, but they were really close to the front fender when I turned sharp. I wasnt able to even slide my finger between the wheel and the fender. The back was no difference though. Sorry wasnt more help.

Thanks, that's actually a lot of help. I'm thinking the 6" lift is going to be ok. As far as running a 12.5 tire on a 12 wheel, I think it looks great. That's the main reason I'm going with a 15x12, it looks tough. I ran 35x12.5 BFG AT's on 15x12 Alcoas on my Dodge Ram and also on my 2nd gen without a problem so it should be ok. Over in Arizona I've seen guys run 33x12.5's on 15x14 wheels on Jeeps before /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif lol now that's pushing it. Thanks for the input.

When you get a chance, could you show some pics of those wheel and tire combos?

I find 6" to be a bit too tight with my 15" BFGs and 15x10 rims. every so often the tire grabs the inner fender and pulls it into the wheel well, but only when really twisted. I might be able to get away with a longer shackle or zero rates to clear it since it is so close to fitting.
