    I just gotta 454 with 86000 miles on it... a 14 bilt ff out of a two wheel drive truck... and a turbo 400... from the same engine... including the radiator for this big block... price... um... well.. oh yeah FREE... god I love farm trucks... What the hell am I gonna do with a 454 and a 14 bolt ff axle??? Besides buy new rims and have a 6 bolt front and 8 bolt rear??? How hard is it to shove the 454 in my blazer??? I have a 350 with a TH350 tranny np203... will the 454 work in here??? I've never done a engine swap to a big block??? My buddy said the th400 has a short shaft or a long shaft... I need the other one for the transfer case??? Anyone know about that??? Is there a big power gain in goin g to the 454???

    Anyone???

    Um... yes officer I know it's too big...

    If you got all the accessories with the 454 just drop it in and go. It will bolt to the TH350. As long as it is in good shape and you don't hammer it to hard it should hold up for a while.

    Hey guy, I got a set of wheels and tires that you might want. Two 8 lug and two 6 lug 16.5x10 (i think its 10) with 36x14x16.5 swampers mounted on them with at most 20% tread. The tires aren't all swampers I think one is a DC but they're all the same size. I'm down in Portland, Oregon but if you wanna drive down they're yours free of charge. The rims are painted black. Lemme know-

    Hey Red
    The plant will drop right in if you got all the brackets and such it is a snap.
    Remove the brake booster to make it easier.
    The plant you have probebly won't trash your drive train as long as you don't go overboard.
    BBC's are torque monsters at lower RPM's usually around 400 lb-ft at 2400 RPM Thats stock with peanut ports.
    The plant in my 73 C20 is a 454 .020 over=463.
    That would make a mess out of a 350 203.
    soon it will be in the K5, but I have a Sm 465 gearbox and NP205 T-case in her.
    The tranny behind it now is a TH400 that I Just paid $900 to have rebuilt.
    see ya

    My truck's not dirty, it's earth tone paint

    I am happy to hear that the 454 is such an easy install... I just got my Blazer w/o motor for $1800. After a little prying as to why the motor was gone, the guy spilled that he had a 454 he was going to install, and just never got to it. Long story short, he gave me the truck and the motor for $3000. TH350/205, and the 454 has EVERYTHING - its from a similar year Suburban. Supposedly, the motor only has 20k miles on it (after a rebuild), and the guy is throwing in:

    * Holly 750cfm carb
    * Edelbrock Air Gap Intake (Clear coated)
    * Satin finish alum. valve covers
    * 4-core radiator
    * New B&M trans cooler
    * Full 454 Gasket Kit
    * ETC, ETC, ETC...

    I love this country!

    How smart is it to put at 454 in front of a TH350/NP203 ??? I have a turbo 400 but it's from a 2 wheel drive so i dont think it will work, will it??? I'm afraid that with the way I mash the skinny one i Will send the tranny through the rear end... or take the 12 bolt with it???
    How much of a difference will it make if I put the 454 in verse a good 350???
    IS IT WORTH IT???

    Um... yes officer I know it's too big...
