Need to tow our John Deer Tractor this weekend. Tractor is around 5500# and has 700lbs worth of weights in the front. The trailer by itself is prolly 1500#. Then we have the Shredder which is prolly close to 1,000lbs.

Will my 6.2 tow this safely for around 30-40 miles.

I think it will tow it just fine, hopefully you have trailer brakes though /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif It just won't win any off the line contests, or uphill contests, or any kind of contest really - except maybe Miles per Gallon /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I agree. That is the same set up that can be found in 1 tons, so your only limiting factor is your axles and your suspension.

Well it is a 3/4ton. So axles and suspension shouldnt be a problem.

No problem. I regularly tow an 8500 lb. 29' fifth-wheel with my rig. I've got 4.10 gears, and 700 trans. I towed my dad's 37' fifth-wheel to the lake one time....it weighs in around 10 or 11K.

Check out my pics link for some pics of 6.2L's towing large loads.

My main concern with your setup would be the light-duty trailer. Does it have brakes? If not, I would go really slow. That's too heavy to not have trailer brakes. In fact, most states require anything towed over 1500 lbs to be equipped with brakes (although a lot of trailers and towed vehicles don't!).

I was about say. Thats our concern, the trailer. It has 2 3500# axels which only bring it to 7000#. Thats pretty much what will be on the TRAILER itself. BUT. it has no brakes. So my dad is borrowing one from work WITH breaks. ans 2 5000# axles.

Now you're talking! That's the safe way to tow. Do you have a brake controller in your truck? If not, you'll need one, unless the trailer has surge brakes.
