The dash's look the same.. the only difference I see is the curve of the old style dashpad ..
    Has anyone updated their interior?

When I was back in body shop school, there was a guy who had a '78 (I think) and he swapped in a new interior and front clip from an '85-ish truck.

I remember asking him about the dash and he said they bolted right up in place of the other. No mods whatsoever. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Thanks Wes... I find more "in good condition" dash pads out of newer model vehicles.. and I'd like to put one in my 78 K-30.

Yes it will bolt up just fine. Another difference is that the newer dash pad also hangs farther over the gauge cluster area making it easier to see in high light conditions such as sun beating through driver side window.

You will have to make one change. The newer pads are more shelf-like on the passenger side and there is more of a ridge between there and the instrument side. When you go to try to put it on, It may not sit flush in the center. Take a hammer and beat down the support in the center and it will go right on. You will also need to change out the instrument bezel. I think the newer ones are thicker at the top and the older ones will not work out right. Good luck.

Must use 81 to 83 dash bezel...last year for the wiper switch to be mounted in the dash...also the dash pad clips are different...the far drivers side clip cannot be used and the new pad will cover a portion of your vin tag (78 up). Looks good when you do the door panels also!

do you know if this will also work for a 74, can i take the dash out of an 88-91(not just a pad but the whole thing) and put in a 74? no major problems?
