Will a Dana 44 Crossover Steering Kit...swap onto a Dana-60?

I'm getting a little ahead of myself project-wise, but this would be nice to know.

As far as I know, a typical Crossover steering kit is:

    2WD Steering Box
    New draglink?
    Modified knuckle
New Steering Arm? on the pass side knuckle. (I don't know what the actual name is)
    Tie Rod & Ends
    Crossover Rod & Ends

From what I've read the pre-73 K5's probably don't need a crossmember mod, and can use the straight crossover bar. What I'm wondering is how many of these parts will still work when I go to a Dana 60 later on?

The only thing that seems "risky" is that steering arm piece on the passenger side knuckle. Perhaps I'll have to re-buy that one? Anyway, I was going to ignore crossover steering altogether until I got a 1-Ton front end, but if the parts swap over easily (and cheaply) I might consider putting it higher up on my "TO-DO" list. greg, i was thinking the exact same thing, with my 10-bolt. I already have the D44 knuckles machined...so I am leaning towards going to x-over. It may be a WHILE before I go full 1-ton....no need to have crappy steering until then!!!! =)

no it wont work bcuz the d60s steering arm is also part of the king pin assembly and the 10bolt/d44 use the 3 studs , so u would only have to "re"buy the d 60 arm .

Greg, all you can re-use is the draglink ends. The daglink is a different length, the pitman arm is different and the steering arm is different. Basically if you swap to a D60 you have a D44 crossover kit to sell with your axle. Which is worth something, so it's not terrible.
