Will an \'80 steering column fit in my 82?

If I switch to automatic trans and use the column from the 80 (400/205) and put it in my 82 (465/205) what will I have to change besides the obvious? Both trucks are the simplest combo I guess; no tilt with only the turn signal on the column. Anybody done this? /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif

My buddy put an '80 column in a '87 cab without any fuss. He used the '80 harness though.

The column itself is a bolt in. The only thing you may have to change is the lower part. From the steering box to the firewall. Sometime during the 80's, not sure what year, They changed the size of the shaft going into the box itself. The wire harness should be the same.
