Any 4x4 TH350 will bolt in place. There are more than one kind of TH350 however, there is the standard non lock-up and also a lock-up style which has a wire going into the driver side of the trans case. There are also TH350's that use SAE bolts and also some that use metric bolts. Make sure you get the correct one and you will be fine. If it is only a matter of the bolts being different then just change the bolts.

th350s that had 208s behind them will not work for you. they have a much longer output shaft. look for a th350 that went in front of 205 or 203. or have the output shafts swapped out.

Hey blue_beast, thanks for that info. I did not know about the output shaft being any different. I figured it was all a matter of what adapter was being used. I will log that into my memory.

When my th350 goes bad, I will be upgrading to a th400. Just a thought, you might want to look into that. Don't know how hard that would be to do, I'm sure someone here could tell you.

Why upgrade to a 400? A built 350 will kick a built 400 and the 400 chews up more HP than a 350, plus the 350 has a lower (higher numerically) first and second gears. And you don't have to worry about changing t-case adapters, moving the crossmember, POSSIBLY changing driveshaft lengths, and hooking up the electric kickdown switch for the 400.

Not saying don't do it, but I don't see why you would. I do truck pulls and the guy who did my original tranny gave me the option of a 350 or 400 and said he would go with the 350 so that's what I did. He explained that the 400's were much beefier stock, but a 350 could be built better than a 400 could. I pulled and watched guys blow auto's and manuals and never had a problem. I took it out to put in an OD, but it still ran strong (and I plowed and truck pulled with it so I know it didn't have an easy life). I just thought I would throw that at you and maybe save some hassles.

    Ratios 1st, 2nd, 3rd
    TH350 2.52, 1.52, 1.00
    TH400 2.48, 1.48, 1.00

As stated any 350 that was in front of a 203 or 205 should work. Steer clear of a 350C (350's equiped with lockup converters) if you find one. The interals are not that great and legend has it that the cases are not as strong.

I didn't know that, thanks for the information. Looks like when the time comes, I'll beef up the th350. That'll make things easyer too.

Does this mean that if I find a TH400 that had a NP205 behind it, my NP203 should fit no problem? Assuming that the TH400 still has the adapter for the NP205?

    Thanks.

Someone (I think Wes) said the 400 has a different shaft stickout for the 205 compared to the 203. To be honest I have seen several 400's out of trucks (in a trash heap) and never paid much attention to them so I can't tell you for sure. Contact ThatK30Guy and he should be able to help you.
