Will a SM465 version 205 and adaptor (from a 79' 1/2 ton; 10 spline) mate to a SM420? Or would it need a different adaptor? Thanks

did the 420 even come as a 4x4 model?
i would say no, the 420 and 465 are entirely different beasts
the adapters the jeep guys use are $525 range
only the TLC boys get a break $200
sell the tranny to a jeep guy with more $ then brains and get a 465 they are dirt cheap

77', thanks for posting. I was thinking along the same lines. I just wasn't sure though. Reason I asked is b/c I'm selling my 205 that was originally mated to a SM465 and a guy asked me if it will mate to his 420. Anyhow, I'll let him know it won't work. Thanks again.

    the poor fellow,
wish him luck, spending an extra $525+ to gain a .40 gear reduction and then trying to mate it to a TC that has the worst available low range ???
the 465 is a much better deal
