Winches to use with PTO?

    Okay, the SM465 and SM420 trannies both have PTO ports...what winches are available to ues in conjunction with these ports? Can I run like a 35,000# military winch off the 465 PTO? Thanks for the input...

    Braden is a big name in PTO winches.

    You can run any PTO winch, but it may or may not be full power. A 30K# winch is gonna pull you out of anything though, so no worries.

    Dad's running a Ramsey 8000lb winch, and it hasn't given him any problems for about 20 years. (hooked to SM465 and 350 or 454)

    Even the 8000 is physically pretty big, any larger than that and I think you will start to have some mounting problems.

    See quite a few Ramseys out there. The PTO drive units are really common at swap meets, another one of those "never wears out" items.
