What is a fair price for a windshild replacement on an 82 k5? I was quoted $230-$260 does it really cost that much?

    No way that's too much.
You can go the junkyard and get a good used winshield and install it yourself, but I had some minor leaks doing it that way. Others have had better results.
I'd say about 100 - 125. Shop around, look in your local bragain papers/thrifty nickel whatever and find the windshield ads - there's always a couple in mine.
I had a 96 Dodge Ram windshiled replaced for less than 200, I think it was actually like $150.

    $20-25
Zero deductable comprehensive is about that for 6 months now that I'm an old fart. I call my agent, they give me a phone number to call. Next day a guy comes to my house or office and installs it.

I was quoted $230-$300 for glass for the '72 and I bet we called some of the same places. If you can get the glass you're self, we ran into a guy while we where calling around that will install it on the side for $75. I'll pass the number along if you want to go that route.
