Wiper arm replacement with \"stay up\" type

Has anyone replaced the wiper arms with the type that will stay up when cleaining the windsheild. I'm just not coordinated enough to hang on, lift the arm and clean all at the same time. I'm hoping there is a diret replacement somewhere.

Man, I wish someone could answer this. The stock wiper arms suck. It's hell trying to scrape the windshield in the winter and a 4" lift doesn't help either. I know VW (rabbits) have fold back, but I got rid of all my old Kraut crap.

I've never tried to see if they'll swap to a K5, but the wiper arms on my wifes '94 Suburban will stay up out of the way while I clean the windshield. /forums/images/icons/cool.gif

I checked mine. The hood is in the way.

Wheelnut46 brings up a good point. This probably isn't a feasible swap if you have one of the early front clips. The hood covered the wipers until they changed the clip in '82 or so. /forums/images/icons/frown.gif

    Hey HarryH3,

What's the arm length on your wife's '94? Is it the same as your K5?

I'll have to measure it when I get home.

Don't know if this helps, but I just open the door and stand in the jamb while leaning against the door near the wing window. That way I don't have to hang on.

Dang! I had to watch the kids last night and forgot to measure before the wife took off with the Sub. I'll try to remember to do it tonight!

Re: Wiper arm replacement with \"stay up\" type

OK, I finally remembered to measure the arms. The arms on the '94 are 19 inches from the center of the drive post to the pin where the blade attaches. The arms on my '91 Sub are only 16 inches. It looks like you could do a bit of fabrication to shorten the newer style arms. Assuming of course that they fit the older style drive posts.
