    Won\'t shift out of Park????

Here's my problem. Truck is locked in "Park". It started a couple of weeks ago. Once in a while, I would have to stand on the brakes for the shifter to release. Now it's locked in. Any ideas? Truck is a '95 (2500) ext. cab, 5.7, 4 speed automatic. /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif

that would have a "Step on brake to shift from park" correct?
if it does then probably the brake switch or the soliniod is bad. i they shoudl be under the dash.
that is all i can help with

Yes, that is a step on brake to shift. Do you know if the brake switch and the solinoid are close to one another? Took a look under there, kind of had to feel around, all I found was a multi wire plug connected to a white plastic housing hooked to the brake pedal rod.

one trick i discovered on my 98 sub is that when you turn it to ON, (not RUN) you can shift out of park with out pressing the brake. if it does, your solenoid is bad. if not, well your stuck.

    Hey Riley- /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
It does shift when the key is on. Thanks for the tip. Hope theres not alot of bullshit to replace the solenoid.
