Just won a set of H2 Ties/Wheels, brand new take off's, from eBay. All I gotta do is go get 'em 1hour away....
The 35" BFG is perfect because I didn't want a 12.5 wide tire, too wide for me, I like thinner. Nice OEM 17" wheel, already mounted and balanced.
I'm sure I'll have to modify the center caps, and mabey find the right lugs to fit on my studs, either that or swap to the metric studs so the factory lugs will fit.
Has anyone put these H2 wheels on their K5/Chevy fullsize????

There are good deals on these things all over eBay, $700-800 usally plus shipping, but I just waited for a set close enough to where I could pick them up.
Perfect for my project K5. I just hope they don't rot before I get the truck done....

Are these going under your '73? Let us know how the extra deep offset of those H2 wheels work out. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Are you looking for me to post pics or are there pics on that link in your post. I can't find any pictures of trucks on the website, if they are supposed to be there??
I havn't picked the T/W up yet, I can post some pics as soon as I get 'em and mount 'em up, probably a week or two though...

Hey, by the way, how much difference is there in offset on the H2 Wheels compared to stock ones???

The H2 uses the undercarriage from an IFS Suburban. If you look at the center section of the wheel on GM's IFS trucks, you'll see that it is nearly flush with the outer edge of the wheel. Wheels from the earlier solid front axle trucks have the center section tucked way back inside the wheel. I hope there's clearance behind the wheel for the deep offset, espcially up front.

    Re: WooHoo!! Just won a set of H2 New-TakeOff Tires/Wheels for $610!!!

Ok, from some quick research a standard H2 rim has 5" of backspacing and a standard 73-87 chevy truck 8-lug rim has 4-4.25" of backspacing (I found 5 places, 3 said 4", 2 said 4.25 or 4 depending on certain wheel options??).

So, 3/4" to 1" doesn't sound like that much?? With a 17" wheel, I shouldn't have any caliper griding to do like I did with my standard 15" 8-lug rims.

Anyone here running wheels with 5" backspacing?? If so, how does the truck handle??
Are wheel spacers on option, I've heard they are generally a bad idea, especially on trucks, I generally see/hear of them on little rice burners....

I run these with 5" backspacing. They are 16x10 and do clear the steering of my ten bolt (barely). I haven't test fitted them on my Dana 60 yet. The truck handles fine and looks good. Your rims/tires will work nicely. The bigger offset will help the 35's clear the fenders too.

Here's a bad picture of mine

I'll find out tommorow, when I pick them up. I'm pretty sure it will. The cap will need modified, I'm sure espcially on the front where it will need a hole for the lockout hub, shouldn't be a problem though....
My bigger concern is the backspacing, but from other posts, it seems the 5" will be OK...we'll see....if they don't work out, I'll just re-sell them...

    Re: WooHoo!! Just won a set of H2 New-TakeOff Tires/Wheels UPDATED/PICS

Ok. Picked up the Tires/Wheels. I'm really not ready for them yet, but tossed two on just to see how they fit/look.
    Tooks some quick pics;
Looks like I got an interference problem with the tie-rod end dust boot. (Yes the wheel weight clears as it comes around, barley!) Other than that, I can turn lock to lock with plenty of room to spare. There are also no problems on the rear. I'll have to get the proper lugs, the ones that came with the wheels are metric, and the lugs I have that fit my all new studs (english) don't have deep enough shoulders for proper fit. Other than that, it looks as though I'm good to go!
Probably a wee bit of front fender trimmin' as well, but that was half expected anyhow.

All in all, A Smokin' deal for 4 brand new wheels, 4 brand new 35 inchers, already mounted and balanced at $610!!!

It's fiberglass, like the rest of the body (except doors & gate). There are still mold lines in it that need to be sanded down. It's all one piece, so it's split on the angle there behind the wheel, so it tilts forward. The lower rear pieces are fixed to the cab.
