    For Your Information:

On 3/24/00, "Shawn" replyed to a post titled "good tranny pan or good bed pan." I copied Shawn's reply and forwarded it to my brother. My brother was not able to open it because his virus software detected a problem. It said it was infected with some sort of "worm virus." My brother uses Norton Antivirus 2000. I scanned my PC with McAfee and found nothing.

There is NO WAY you can get a virus by copying text from a web page.

Kim, your "current" virus definitions probably didn't detect the worm virus.......go to mcafee.com and download the new definitions.......do this MONTHLY at a minimum and stay current. Same goes to the NORTON Anti Virus users, go to their site and download the new definitions........

I use PC-CILLIN. It automatically updates the virus table and protects you while on line by checking everything during download and will actually stop download if anything is amiss.....
And you can receive a virus anytime you download anything....they can be placed in text messages and photo's for that matter. it is called embedding. The digits for the virus are placed in between the digits for the "carrier". For those interested I can elaborate further...

Like the others said, get the latest virus update. I have McAfee 4.03 with the newest scan engine and the definitions are dated March 13, 2000. You can update both the engine and the virus definitions with McAfee's program called "Superdat". To find out what version you have, open McAfee and click help, about. A virus can get around through any email but not through this board.

What are you going to do up there? Could you use a pilot/computer/telecommunication's specialist?

    Worm Virus, Found and killed??

Thanks to all for the excellent advice. I did as I was told and updated McAfee. The newer version detected the virus, cleaned/deleted it. I'm back in business! For those who might be interested, McAfee Virus Scan calls it WScript/kak.worm. It is an Internet worm that uses Windows Scriptin Host to propaagte itself through email using MS Outlook Express 5. This virus was first detected in Dec 1999 and continues to occur in newsgroup postings.

Thanks for the post. I also scanned mine today and had that virus too. My virus software called it TR.KAK.WORM. But at any rate it is now cured!!

Ditto here, found and killed it. Agravating little buggers. I want to meet the prick or prickette that made it and stomp on em.
