Was taking my wife to work and a Jeep Grand Cherokee was coming towards us going really fast. Right infront of us it swerved off the road, tore through a construction area that had dug a giant hole, flew between two cars parked at a nature reserve at probably 70mph, and hit a 3ft dirt embankment topped with boulders about 4ft in diameter.

The Jeep flew probably 8ft into the air and rolled a few times, ripping one of the boulders out of the ground with it. We turned around in the middle of the street and went back to help. The lady who had been driving it was crying and obviously scared to all hell, but otherwise fine minus a few scratches. The Jeep was completely totalled. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

It looked like the throttle went bad and got stuck open. I remember smelling brake pads burning when she tore off the road infront of us.

    F*cking scary!

I assume so. It was a late 90's Jeep GC.

Wonder if the cruise went haywire like my friends Heep GC? His would just turn itself on while he was driving around and it would go directly to accelerate mode! /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif Dealership couldn't find a problem with it,he wond up removing the power to the cruise control and never using it again.

Wouldn't be suprised. This Heep just took off and you could tell the lady was jamming on those brakes.

Note to future self: Never buy a newer Heep.

I would also probably jam on the brakes as a reaction if the throttle sticks, but I am sure I would think to turn the ignition off after a few seconds.
