will post up more tonight, we basically used the blazer sub frame and used 2x2 at an angle to support it..beefy, I still cant beleave I am cutting it up already, I want to narrow the front next by removing the front fender's inner support and leaving just the skin, then make some stress notches and bend them in and follow the inner hood lines...I can't wait

I guess now you know why so many people say not to put so much work/money into the body and paint job /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Living in the the NW I think it would be cool to see something with functional doors, /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif since its is cold and wet more than it is dry and sunny....I guess that makes me a poser though /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

dude, do a super-detailed write up on this and get Steve to post it to the permenent tech article section... that'd rock! Im not gonna boatside my k5... but I am definitely gonna do it to the s-10 cab. Still, its the same principle and yours turned out awesome. share that tech info!! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Its funny that for all the tech that is in the technical section, people are constantly asking questions that have been answered there already. Instead of do a search, we should tell more people to look in the tech section /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: write up for doing \"boatsiding\" to your rig

Hmmm, looks a bit familiar. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

But I don't know that we need a write up. Most of the info was covered in the recent Boat Side thread. And there is really no "right" way to do it, it's totally a matter of taste and preference combined with goals...

Those of you that want more pics can see the pics of my son's boat side project here.

Re: write up for doing \"boatsiding\" to your rig

I need to read the thread and I need pics of what was cut off if you could. My floorboards and rockers aren't in the greatest condition. They look good on the outside but are actually rotted out so I want to boatside it.

Re: write up for doing \"boatsiding\" to your rig

His floors were rotted too, that's why we cut out as much as we did (see pics). It came out in pieces, and the pieces have been tossed some time ago, so sorry, no pics of what came out. But seriously, if you have the skills to do the fab, you have the skills to see how it can be made to fit in like my pics (and SuperSize) show. Get under there and look at it and I think you'll agree. It's just not that hard... I'm completely burried right now, but I'll try to find time to annotate the pics in BadPup's page ASAP.

Eli (Weisel) did his boatside that high or higher and he still has functional doors. It can be done, but it all depends on how much time you are willing to spend getting the doors to work. I think he said he had 40hr or so in work to get his doors to work with his very high boatside job.

I'm sure I will have functional doors, I won't go as high as some of you guys. Just as high as the top of the standard rocker panel maybe slightly more.

I think a write up would still be a good deal with lots o pics...doesn't mean anyone has to do it just like that...but the pics and thoughts involved make very rich food for thought...
