OK, finally got the heads on the block. The temperature sending unit on the old heads is way too big to put on the Vortec heads. I went to Napa and looked at the unit for a '96 1500 (cause they use the Vortec heads right?) well the new temp sensor has two wires coming out of it. Can I use this? And which wire do I connect the gauge to? I also noticed that the old one fits into a whole on the new intake manifold. Can I just use it there and save myself $25?

Just use an adapter fitting. I'd assume you can get one, I had to go from a large hole to a small fitting, THAT was an easy adapter to find.

Two wire units are typically for the ECM, some also probably trigger a coolant warning light in the dash in some applications.
